This privacy policy describes how Enrico Ehrich Softwareentwicklung ("we", "us", "our") handles information in the AuriTale mobile application ("the App") and on this website. We take the protection of your personal data seriously and process data exclusively in accordance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable German data protection law.

The App works without user accounts, without your name, and without your email address. There is no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking. The only data we store on our servers is:
We do not store your IP address, your name, your email address, or your location.
Downloaded books and audio content are stored in the App's private storage on your device. You can delete them at any time from within the App.
Your reading and listening progress is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Your preferences (e.g. language, theme, playback settings) are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted.
The App connects to our servers to load the book catalog and to download books and audio content. When connecting, your IP address is technically transmitted as part of the connection (this is inherent to how the internet works). We do not store IP addresses persistently. Technical server logs are retained briefly (24 hours) for operational purposes; for abuse prevention, a pseudonymised, daily-rotating hash of the IP address may be processed temporarily. It cannot be traced back to the original IP address after the daily key rotation.
The legal basis for content delivery is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract / provision of the requested feature); for abuse prevention it is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in protecting our service).
The App lets you send suggestions and feedback about book content. If you use this feature, the text you submit is stored on our servers together with your random device ID and a timestamp. The contents are forwarded to our internal writing-tool pipeline for processing, which uses AI models (data processors; standard contractual clauses apply in case of third-country transfers).
Retention periods:
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent, given by actively submitting feedback). You can export or delete all your data at any time from within the App (Settings → Privacy).
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services. No data is sold or shared with third parties, except for the AI-based processing of voluntarily submitted feedback described in Section 5.
The App requests the following device permissions:
All permissions are used exclusively for the stated purposes. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (necessary for providing the App's functionality).
Data on your device (books, progress, settings) is retained until you delete it; uninstalling the App removes all associated local data. Server-side data follows the retention periods listed in Section 5. You can delete all server-side data associated with your device ID at any time via Settings → Privacy → "Delete my account" in the App.
The App is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; the only identifiers we process are random and not linked to any person.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
